Special Interview by 9 Press Groups on “Internet+” Innovation of Yuchai Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. (2015-7-8 23:23:53)
 

On June 30, the “Internet+ Innovation Road Joint Interview Group”, composed of nine press groups including sina.com and Guangxi TV station, made a special interview with Yuchai Heavy Industry Co., Ltd (YCHI) on the topic of how manufacturing enterprises take advantage of Internet+ to innovate. YCHI introduced cases of the application of its GPS IOT operation platform.

Tang Yongjun, president of Engineering Machinery Research Institute of YCHI, highlighted a typical innovative application in the area of “Internet+”, the YCHI GPS IOT operation platform. The project manager demonstrated WEB operation and mobile APP operation of the platform on the site.

One of the difficulties in engineering machinery post-sale follow-up is monitoring and scheduling. YCHI hired a third-party platform for engineering machinery monitoring, and used 2G networks for data transmission. The call center made scheduling through mobile short message service, which is slow in transmitting monitoring data and costly, thus unable to reflect actual working conditions. Besides, it is risky to store monitoring data in a third-party platform.

Based on the Internet thinking, YCHI expanded its services in light of actual needs of users by changing the singular function mode of the GPS terminal installed in traditional engineering machinery which is used only for positioning and locking the vehicle. The GPS terminal has transformed its role from the “supervisor” to the “server” though the communication between the GPS terminal and mounted controller by adopting the mode of IOT. The launch of GPS IOT operation platform has increased the reporting frequency of engineering machinery location and working condition information, improved the timeliness of GPS communication, reduced communication cost, expanded terminal capacity and raised performance requirements. It has also helped the company to build a data platform which ensures the safety of data. It transmits monitoring data through 4G wireless channels which enhances the quality of monitoring and scheduling.

In addition, the platform of mobile APP also provides users with an opportunity to participate in the monitoring and scheduling of engineering machinery anytime and anywhere. The platform also benefits every link of the entire industry chain, including the main engine manufacturers, distributors, after-sale service personnel, owners and operators of the machines.
